Our Philosophy
LeanMeanTech was founded by innovators in the mobile app development industry,
our team consists of engineers with extensive business &
technology experience that created companies from inception to market to funding.
We have developed successful applications with millions of downloads and users on bootstrapped startup
budgets, and in the process discovered and refined our approach to creating quality, compelling software
on budgets and schedules that impress.
LeanMeanTech was created with the goal of bringing our expertise and insight to the world. We are
a development agency that focuses on creating high-quality, high-impact mobile applications for our
clients. Unlike conventional shops, our engineering and architecture teams consist exclusively of
high-level, experienced engineers with proven reputation and success in the industry that work in small
high performance agile teams. We have extensive in-house expertise in Android, iOS
and Windows Mobile development, and never outsource or contract out any engineering. We take great pride
in our work, and will never compromise on project success or client satisfaction.
Our Development Process
We are proponents of agile development methodologies, which in practice we have witnessed to result in
higher quality software developed with a lower cost. This allows our small teams to outperform larger
teams with more process overhead. Fundamental to our agile mindset is that we do not believe in dogmatic
process rules, but rather adapt our processes quickly, in order to best address project demands.
Every project is unique, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and can adapt to the needs
of your project or organization. Our process is never set in stone, but usually employs various
human-to-human process tools including: short sprint cycles, weekly client updates, developer-led testing,
pair programming, daily status and code reviews.

Jeff Kalikstein
President / Principal Architect / Project Manager
Jeff is the Founder and President of LeanMeanTech and has been creating professional software for over a
decade. Prior to his work at LeanMeanTech, Jeff co-founded and served as the Head of Mobile Application
Development at ATX Innovation, where he led the development of the iOS and Android versions of TabbedOut,
an innovative app that allows consumers to pay their bar and restaurant tabs from their mobile phone.
He also was the co-founder, CTO, and Head of Mobile Application Development at MapMyFitness, the creators
of MapMyRun and MapMyRide. Prior to MapMyFitness, Jeff was a firmware development engineer at NetStreams,
and a product development engineer at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Jeff received a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Jeff Linwood
Senior Engineer
Jeff Linwood has been a professional Java software developer since
1999. Recently, he has moved into mobile application development,
creating apps for clients ranging from startups to non-profits. Jeff
now speaks at conferences around the country about mobile application
development. Jeff is also the co-author of several Java programming
books, the most recent of which is Pro Hibernate 3, 2nd Edition,
published by Apress.
Jeff has a BS Degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an MS from
the University of Texas at Austin
